Do you enjoy beer or going out to breweries? Then the Pub Pass is the perfect item for you. The Pub Pass is a small passport that you can bring around to different breweries in your city and get a complimentary beer. It’s one small fee for nearly endless brewery possibilities! All the cities that offer pub passes will be listed below.
What is A Pub Pass:
The Pub Pass is a craft beer passport that has 25 different breweries in and near major cities. You get 1 complimentary beer at each brewery. And then you receive a stamp on your “passport” once you select your beer.
How Long Does A Pub Pass Last:
The passport is good for 1 year (January 1-December 31), so you can travel as fast or slow as you want to each brewery. But you will want to buy it closest to the New Year, so you have the whole year! Though if you average a couple each week you could visit every spot in less than a year. Jake and I saved a big chunk of them to enjoy during the warm summer months.
Who is A Pub Pass for:
It’s for EVERYONE, who likes beer! If you like beer, than I’m sure you can always find a beer you like at each brewery. It helps you branch out and try beers you would never otherwise get at a brewery.
How Much Does A Pub Pass cost
The pub pass costs $25 which averages out to be about $1 per beer at each brewery. This pass is so affordable it’s ridiculous!
What Cities offer the Pub Pass:
Boulder, Denver, Des Moines, Kansas City, Madison, Miami/Fort Lauderdale, Milwaukee, Minneapolis/St. Paul, St. Louis, or Tampa/St Pete, and Washington D.C.
Are All Beers Included:
Unfortunately not all the breweries beers are included. Most of the higher alcohol percentage beers, barrel-aged or super specialty beers are not included. The best thing to do is ask which beers are included from the start and go from there! Or they might offer a discount to get one of the beers not included.
Don’t Forget To Tip:
You are getting a FREE beer from each brewery, so be respectful and tip at least $1 per beer. A lot of times, people will purchase another beer, but if you don’t, make sure to give a nice tip to the bartender.
Is there food:
The pub pass only includes breweries, but a lot of times breweries team up with food trucks or other vendors to provide amazing food!
Don’t Drink & Drive:
If you are living in the city, UBER and LYFT are super affordable and much cheaper/safer than a DUI! Or you can ride a bike, but just keep in mind that DUI laws can also apply to bikes too, so be responsible.
Our favorite Pub Pass brewery memory:
In 2018, we visited Brewability in Denver. It was located pretty far from where we lived, but decided we wanted to check it out anyways because it was on the pass. We had not done any research on the brewery but when we arrived we were welcomed by the employees.
The brewery was founded with the goal of employing people with disabilities. We later got to chatting with the owner and she told us her whole business plan and how it’s hard for people with special needs to contribute to society after graduating high school. They aren’t given very many opportunities, so she created this brewery to provide the opportunity to become income earning members of society.
And she was in the process of creating a restaurant called Pizzability.
She knows that given the right guidance, people with special needs are entirely capable of working a “normal” job. And Brewability proves that, because only after being served our drinks, we found out from the owner that our bartender was almost completely blind.
We were so moved by her story and just felt so welcomed by the warm environment there! The employees were all incredibly friendly and provided excellent customer service. I hope they are seeing a lot of success from being part of the pub pass.
Takeaway:
This pub pass if so much fun and gets you out of the house to travel around to new breweries in the city! Unfortunately, this pass hasn’t reached every major city, but there are some really cool cities on the pass. Get out and take advantage of this awesome pub pass! You can purchase a pub pass HERE
