6 Gift Ideas For Travel Bloggers

Travel bloggers can be very tricky to shop for because they likely have put a premium on travel experiences instead of material things. They often live minimally to help them afford flights or live nomadic in a campervan or RV

So what can you gift someone who doesn’t want traditional gifts. Travel bloggers can always use more travel, but that is hard for a friend or family member to buy specifically.  There are a few things that travel bloggers can always use, that will help them be an overall better travel blogger. Here are some travel gift ideas for travel bloggers.

Courses:

Travel bloggers can always use more information to becoming a better blogger. There are so many great courses, but a lot of the better courses out there are expensive.

If you want to see a travel blogger succeed faster, then they usually need the inside scope from a professional. Even if the travel blogger you know is a professional, I’m sure they could always get a different aspect on blogging from someone else’s point of view.

Or there might be a platform that they want extra help on succeeding at such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, SEO, etc.

A course we took was called Blogging Blastoff by It’s A Lovely Life and we highly suggest it. The course is a 30 day course that gives you all the information for new or experienced bloggers. The course covers everything from getting your social media accounts started to taxes to getting sponsored posts. It’s a lovely life run’s the course monthly and it is interactive with other members of the group.

Two really popular platforms for online courses are Wondrium (formerly The Great Courses Plus) and LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda.com). They both allow you to take video lectures at your own pace, with no limit on how many classes you can take.

Wondrium offers a more traditional university course selection, with thousands of video lectures offered by Ivy League professors and other top schools. While LinkedIn Learning has a better offering of niche courses about in-demand business, tech, and creative skills.

Both platforms offer a free trial followed by a monthly subscription ($20/month = Wondrium, $30/month = LinkedIn Learning).

We have used both platforms before and find the lectures to be really high quality. In general, I would recommend LinkedIn Learning for those who are interested in learning about a specific platform (Instagram, Pinterest, etc.). Wondrium is generally better for covering topics in a wider scope.

Camera Accessories Gift Ideas For Travel Bloggers:

What does every successful travel blogger have on their page? You guessed it, stunning photos or videos!

Travel bloggers can always use updated camera gear or accessories. There is always something new out on the market that are making travel bloggers more successful than others.

Another gift idea for travel bloggers goes back to the first category, which is buying them a course that helps them become a better photographer.

Jake and I have the Sony Alpha 6000 camera, and we feel it really is a powerhouse when it comes to nature photography. We didn’t have the budget to buy a super expensive camera, but knew our iphones weren’t going to cut it anymore!

Slowly we have built up our camera set up with filter lenses, Joby Gorilla Tripod, etc. But we are always wanting more to excel in photography and to bring our travel blog to the next level!

Some other great accessory ideas for cameras are full-standing tripods and lenses. Finding the right tripod can range significantly depending on the goal.

If the travel blogger is just starting out then a great gift idea is the UBeesize 60-inch Camera Tripod or the TYCKA Rangers 56″ Compact Travel Tripod will get the job done.

If the travel blogger is much more experienced and has a higher quality camera, than they might need a higher quality tripod which can be expensive.

For lenses, you will probably want to check with the travel blogger to see what camera they use and what type of photography they are looking forward to capturing.

Photo editing software:

Cameras don’t always capture the amazing colors that you visually see, therefore most travel bloggers edit their photos. A great gift idea for a travel blogger can be purchasing a photo editing software.

There are some really great photo editors out there, but they sometimes come with a high price tag. Check with the travel blogger and see what editing program they use or want to use!

There are sometimes flat rates to purchase an editing program and you could upgrade them to a higher quality program or there are annual subscriptions, and you can maybe purchase that program for them for the following year!

Some great editing programs are Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, Aperture, Luminar, Photolemur, Aurora HDR, etc.

If the travel blogger is into video creation, there are many great options for software. People usually start off on a mediocre program and work their way up to Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.

For PC users, Adobe Premiere Pro is an annual subscription and can get quite expensive over time. There are Youtube tutorials all over the internet, so you can learn the program relatively easily. And it can create professional looking videos. The nice thing about Adobe Premier Pro is it can also be used on Mac as well.

For Mac users Final Cut Pro is the top of the line editor and has a high up front cost but is a one time purchase. Final Cut Pro also creates very high quality professional looking videos. There are also tutorials all over the internet, that can help travel bloggers learn the program easily.

Some other great editors for beginners and intermediate video creators are Corel Video Studio, Cyberlink Powerdirect, or Pinnacle Studio.

Airfare:

Airfare can be one of the best gift ideas for travel bloggers. But buying airfare does strict a challenge to buy for someone else. But you can actually gift airline miles to others.

If a travel blogger is always flying to new places, the airfare sure adds up, so they could always use extra miles or cash to buy their flights.

Transferring miles: You can transfer miles to other people, but most airlines charge a fee. But if you have miles your aren’t able to use, it might be worth sending your miles over to a travel blogger, because chances are, they can use them!

Buying Flights For Others: Another great option is to buy flights for others through your miles. This is obviously easier to do if the travel blogger is a family member or close friend. By buying the flight through your account you can avoid the fees that come along with transferring miles.

Airline Gift Cards: Some airlines now have gift cards you can purchase for future flights. The airlines give the option of buying a plastic gift card or a virtual gift card. One negative, is you have to buy it though a specific airline, so be sure to check and see which airline they prefer or often fly with.

We highly suggest Southwest Airlines because you can change your flight without fees, don’t get charged for baggage and you can pick your own seat.

Gift Cards:

Travel bloggers almost always travel, so a gift card is a perfect gift idea for travel bloggers. I know it’s not always the most exciting gift to give, but trust me, they will appreciate it!

Gift cards can be for a variety of things such as gas, food, clothes, credit etc. A gift card can be a way for a traveler to treat themselves to a new outfit, get from point A to point B, get a quick bite, or go out to a nice dinner.

We live in a van and are constantly traveling to new places, therefore we are constantly filling up gas. For a travel blogger that is always driving around to new destinations, then a gas gift card would be the perfect gift idea.

For travel bloggers that always have themselves in photos probably run through their wardrobe pretty fast. So giving them a gift card to treat themselves to a new outfit might be the perfect thing they need to launch them in a good direction to get some fresh photos.

Or if you don’t know exactly what they want, then simply getting them a Visa or Mastercard gift card might be the perfect route to go.

Subscriptions:

Travelers are always on the move and sometimes need to kill time while on the road or in the air. They also might not have service every part of their trip, so getting a subscription usually allows them to download their favorites and listen or watch later.

Getting them a subscription to Audible or an online magazine might be the perfect gift for a travel blogger. Or getting a subscription for Netflix so they can download their favorite show or movie to watch on the go. Or if Netflix isn’t their thing maybe a subscription to Hulu, HBO now, etc.
