Imagine turning your own backyard into a cozy campsite, where the allure of nature meets the comfort of home. Here, we explore 7 imaginative ways to embark on a camping trip right from your doorstep, proving that the thrill of the outdoors can be found just outside your window.

Camp In The Backyard:

The easiest way to go on a camping trip right from your home is to set up your tent in the backyard. Or if you don’t have a yard, set it up in your living room. Grab your sleeping pad, sleeping bag and a pillow. Have yourself a camping night! The best part about this, is you don’t need to pack up the car, or go without a shower, because you are already home!

Or if you want to get real adventurous, build the ultimate fort indoors!

Group Call Your Camping Buddies:

Call up all your camping buddies, and do a group chat either on Facetime, Zoom, Google Hangout, etc. All put a video-fire on the TV (unless you have a wood stove, EVEN BETTER) and grab a beer/glass of wine and pretend you are all around the campfire!

Or play a few fun campfire games around the fire such as Cheers to the Govenor, Truth or Dare, Never Have I Ever, etc. It’s the most fun way to go on a camping trip right from your home.

Make Smores:

Smores are a staple on a camping trip. There are a few different ways you can make them indoors. Either light up the gas stove and roast your marshmallow to perfection.

Or if you don’t have a gas stove, you can place the smore in the microwave, but be sure to pay attention because the marshmallow might blow up!

And obviously you can make them in the oven on broil too, but make sure the chocolate doesn’t melt too fast!

Turn Off Your Phone For A Night:

One of our favorite things about camping deep in the backcountry is losing cell signal. You get to escape the craziness of the world and get in touch with nature. And what not a better time than now, to take a break from everything that is happening. Play some games, laugh at each other’s jokes, have a dance party, etc.

Set Up Your Hammock:

Obviously this is best if you have trees in your backyard, but I’ve definitely gotten creative inside my house before. Grab a nice book and relax in your hammock for a bit and just relax! Or if you are feeling adventurous, try out hammock camping for the night!

Go On A Hike Near Your Home:

You don’t always have to travel to a new place to go on a fun adventure. Pull up the AllTrails Apps and find some hikes nearby. {Read: How To Find Hikes Near Me}

It’s a great way to get some fresh air, and camping is all about fresh air! Jake and I love exploring the new area we are camping in, so pretend you are exploring your new camp spot.

Watch A Camping Movie:

The best way to get into the mood is to watch a camping classic movie. It can make you feel like you are right out in nature. Some great camping classic movies are The Great Outdoors, RV, The Parent Trap, etc. Now, you can go on a camping trip right from your home, or even on your couch!
