Venustas Heated Vest Review | Everything You Need To Know

Emily using the Venustas Heated Vest w/ detachable hood out on a hike

I’ve pretty much wanted a heated vest ever since I moved to Colorado and first learned about them. Which is kind of ironic since I moved from Up North Wisconsin where the wind chill sometimes reached -40 degrees Fahrenheit. But trust me, this Venustas Heated Vest will be with me on any cold trip no matter where I am in the world from now on.

I’ve been testing this vest out for the past couple months and fell completely in love with it. Even on those summer nights high in elevation in Colorado, I am so thankful to have my Venustas heated vest with me. When everyone’s backsides are getting cold because they’re not facing the fire, I am staying toasty warm with my Venustas Heated Vest.

In this review, I will be covering everything you need to know, and whether or not this is the right vest for you as well! I personally have the Women’s Venustas Heated Down Vest 7.4V with Detachable Hood. But, they have many different styles and layers to choose from!

I put the Venustas Heated Down Vest to the Test:

I seriously love this vest and can’t speak higher of it. For someone that always runs cold, this is the perfect item to add to my wardrobe. Especially since I live in a camper van with no heater during the winter. There have been many days where the sun doesn’t shine and it’s hard to get our camper van up to a reasonable temperature during the day. So this heated vest is the perfect item to help keep me warm!

My favorite experience using it is camping in Colorado. It seriously can be a life saver to keep me warm on those chilly nights (even in summer). Luckily the summer of 2022, we’ve had a low wildfire season, so we’ve been able to have campfires all summer long. But in the past, we’ve basically had to stop having campfires mid-July. And I totally wish I had my Venustas Heated Vest then. This vest will be a staple in my camping packing list from now on!

How the Women’s Heated Down Vest 7.4V With Detachable Hood works:

When first opening the box, I was a bit confused on how to get the vest to work properly. So here are the proper instructions:

Once you unbox everything, charge up the battery to 100%. Once it is at 100, plug it into the cord in the back zipper pocket of the vest.

Next, hold the button on the top left hand side for 3-5 seconds. The button will blink red as it preheats for 5 minutes. When it is done preheating the circle will turn white which is the medium heat setting. You can then choose the heating level of your choice by pressing the button once (or for 1 second).

Heating Levels:

Red (high): 130 degrees Fahrenheit (55 degrees Celsius)

White (medium): 113 degrees Fahrenheit (45 degrees Celsius)

Blue (low): 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35 degrees Celsius)

How Long Will The Battery Last When Using the Venustas Women’s Heated Down Vest 7.4V:

The battery for the Venustas Heated Vest should last anywhere from 3-11 hours depending on heat level you choose.

High Setting (red): 3-4 hours

Medium Setting (white): 6-7 hours

Low Setting (blue): 9-11 hours

Things I don’t exactly love about the Venustas Women’s Heated Down Vest 7.4V With Detachable Hood:

With all the good about this vest, there are a few design choices that I don’t like.

I don’t like the battery placement on the back side. It makes it hard to get the battery in and out. Plus when you are leaned back into a chair you can feel the battery bank which is rather bulky. I think placement on the side or on the inside of the front pocket would be better in my opinion.

I also don’t like the bright glowing button on the chest. It is great for indicating whether it is on and the different levels of heat. But I think they could have designed a more subtle indicator. In the dark, the colors can be very bright, which I dislike.

The sizes run pretty big. I’m 5’3″ and got an XS and honestly, I think it could be a bit smaller. I think men or women that are petite or smaller than me might not find a product on Venustus’s website that fits.

Who is the Venustas Heated Vest For:

  • Literally anyone! Except maybe someone who only lives in warm climates, but then again, it can be the perfect item to get through those colder winter days. Even summer nights in Colorado get cold, so you will see me wearing my Venustas vest year-round.
  • Skiers & Snowboarders: It can be the perfect supplemental layer for skiers and snowboarders to maintain their core temperature. Especially when you are on first chair when the sun hasn’t even peaked over the mountains yet. Or when it’s late afternoon and your body simply won’t stay warm anymore. You can skip the breaks in the lodge just to warm up. And if you get too warm, you can always turn off the heater and just use the vest or jacket as a regular layer. Or Venustus also does carry base layers which can be even more ideal than a vest.
  • Hunters: Venustas carries the perfect orange vest or jacket for hunters. Stay warm while out there hunting and stay visible with the proper orange attire.
  • Ice fishers: Heated vests and jackets are the best items to have when out ice fishing on the lake. While you might be staying warm in the ice shanty, when you finally catch a fish, you will want to stay nice and warm with a Venustas Heated Vest or Jacket.
  • Outdoor Enthusiasts: Jake and I spend much of our time in the great outdoors, whether it be hiking, camping, biking, etc. So you will be seeing me in this vest just about any day when there is a slight chill in the air. Or around the campfire to make sure my core stays nice and toasty warm.
  • Great For Lounging or Around the House: A Venustas Heated Vest can even be great when lounging around the house. It can honestly help keep your heating bill down. I personally love wearing it in the morning when I am working on my laptop.

Other products Venustas Carries:

4 different items that venustus sells on thie website

In this post, I’ve mainly been reviewing the Women’s Venustas Heated Down Vest 7.4V With Detachable Hood. But, they have many different heated items on their website.

If you are a skier, snowboarder, cross-country skiers, etc, there are so many layers that can be worth looking into. From heated base layers, heated gloves, or even heated winter jackets.

Or if you are just looking for the perfect lounge heated layer to have around the house, they also carry an oversized blanket hoodie.

Final Thoughts about the Venustas Heated Vest:

As you can probably tell, I absolutely love my Venustas Heated Vest. I run cold, (like literally get goosebumps below 75 degrees), so this is the perfect item to get me through just about any season. I can say yes to more cold-weather adventures without fear of getting cold.

What I can’t attest to quite yet is the longevity of the product. While I’m hoping it lasts for many years to come, I’ve really only gotten to use it for a few months now. Although as listed above, Venustas has a generous warranty for their products, as well as the battery.

Therefore, I can confidently say the Venustas Heated Clothing is a great addition to just about everyone’s wardrobe. From lounging around to shredding down ski hills, this vest is going to be keeping me toasty for most chilly days in the future!
