Best Campervan Rental Companies To “Try Out” Vanlife

Ever see people traveling the world in their campervan and dream about doing it too? Well, now you can “try out” vanlife with these campervan rental companies before committing to it to see if it is right for you.

It may be a worthwhile investment to test the lifestyle before spending thousands on your own van. There are many campervan rental companies out there that you can rent a van and see if living in a 50 sq ft living space is suitable for your lifestyle.

Jake and I used to go on extended road trips while living out of his Subaru Legacy and absolutely loved it!

Therefore, we knew if we had a vehicle bigger than a 2001 Subaru Legacy, we would have exponentially more room and a place to sit other than the driver and passenger seat. But we do think it is important to try out this lifestyle in one way or another to make sure it is the right choice for you.

If you’re curious why people even choose to do vanlife in the first place check out our post:

Why Do People Do Vanlife?

Most companies’ prices are based on miles traveled. Therefore, it is hard to include the pricing of each van.

Alternative Ways To Rent A Campervan:

Borrow from a family member/friend:

Borrowing from a family member or friend isn’t a campervan rental company, but a budget-friendly way to get a feel for “if vanlife is for you”. They can clearly show you the ropes of how to live this lifestyle to the fullest. And this will likely be the cheapest way to test out vanlife, assuming they hook you up with a “friends & family” discount.

Try Car Camping for a week or two:

Honestly, this is how Jake and I primarily traveled for a week or two at a time. These car-camping trips are the origins of our love for travel.

But we always hated packing up at the end of the trip to head back home. We wanted to be able to spend as much time as we wanted in one place and then move on to the next destination without having to go back to our normal life.

And trust me, if you enjoy living out of a car, then it’s likely that the extra space, comfort, and amenities of a campervan will be a game changer.

Takeaway | Best campervan rental companies to try out vanlife:

There are multiple reasons why people choose this lifestyle, but it is important to note that this lifestyle is not for everyone. So, we feel it is best to try it out to make sure you are going to love it and not instantly regret building out a van or investing a lot of money into a lifestyle that isn’t well suited for you.

Most of these campervan rental companies for the United States are located in the West. The West tends to be better suited to vanlife because there’s more land.

Therefore if you are trying to plan a road trip in the East you have fewer options for camping. Be sure to check out the websites for great deals on rentals, because who doesn’t love saving money?!

We hope you enjoy these great ways of how you can try out vanlife to see if it’s right for you.
