Wanting to explore beautiful Colorado via a camper van? Lucky for you there are tons of great camper van rentals in Denver Colorado. This ultimate guide will provide you with many great options for where to rent a camper van in Denver and where to take the rental for an epic adventure.

Denver is a huge hub for camper van rentals because camping and hiking is one of Colorado’s main draws during summertime. Or many rental companies offer winter packages to keep you warm in those colder months if you are looking for an epic ski vacation. So whether you are hiking up the mountains or shredding down them, there is a Denver camper van rental for you!

While the city of Denver itself isn’t the best place to vanlife because lack of places to legally park, the mountainous areas will blow you away and leave you wanting to extend your trip. Within a couple of hours of Denver, there are endless adventures in the mountains to explore. So choose from the list of best camper van rentals in Denver Colorado below. And after we will help guide you on other details, like where and how to camp, and our favorite places to go!

Outdoorsy:

Outdoorsy is one of your best options to rent a camper van in Denver Colorado. Their website is a peer-to-peer marketplace with a wide selection of different camper vans. Plus there are so many different filters to choose from so you can get the exact camper van rental you are looking for.

For example, if you want a 4×4 van that has a refrigerator, air conditioner, and indoor shower so you can live off-grid for many days, there is probably a rental for you on Outdoorsy. Or if you want to save a few bucks and find a modest campervan with the bare essentials, they probably have that too!

Not only does Outdoorsy have camper van rentals in Denver, they also have many different RV-style rentals. So if you have a truck or SUV, you can rent a towable RV. Or if this trip is for the whole family, you might want to choose a fifth wheel so there is plenty of room for everyone!

And if you are flying into the Denver Airport, many of the rentals have the option of delivery. Or you can get a ride-share to the location of the camper van. You will often meet with the owner to get a quick run-through of how the camper van works. And you will be on the road in no time.

The one negative is if you are planning a one-way road trip, you can’t usually return the van to a different location like some of the other companies on this list.

RVezy:

Photo provided by RVezy

RVezy is a very similar website to Outdoorsy with tons of great camper van rentals in Denver Colorado. {Read Our Guide: Outdoorsy versus RVezy} It’s a peer-to-peer marketplace with many different camper van rental options. If you are looking for a luxury glamping-style camper van or a modest camper van on a budget, there is a wide range of rentals to choose from.

But again, you usually have to bring the camper van rental back to the owner at the end of the trip. Therefore, if you are wanting a one-way road trip, RVezy might not be the best option. But ultimately, I love how personable the camper van rentals are with RVezy, because you get to meet the owner of the campervan and experience a personalized touch to your Denver camper van rental experience.

RVShare:

RVshare is another peer-to-peer marketplace for camper van rentals in Denver Colorado. Camper van owners can list their camper vans for rent on this platform for people like you to rent. The RVshare platform has great filters to choose from to decide on the perfect camper van rental for you. But they have a smaller selection of camper van rentals compared to RV rentals. So it might be harder to find the exact camper van rental you need compared to other sites on this list.

Escape Campervan:

Escape Campervan

I’m sure you’ve already seen an Escape Campervan out on the road! Escape Camper vans are unique vans that have beautiful artwork around the whole van. They have local artists paint on the vans, and then people can rent these vans to travel around the country in style.

Escape Camper Vans are a modest rental with the bare essentials. But still providing everything you need to get around the country safely, comfortably, cheaply, and uniquely.

Another unique feature about Escape Camper Vans, is you don’t have to return the van to the same location. Escape Camper Vans has locations in Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and Seattle. Therefore, you can make a whole road trip itinerary starting from Denver and drop it off in a different location.

Escape Campervans has a few different makes and models of camper van rentals in Denver. With some of the campervans being able to sleep up to 5 people. Additionally, each van comes with a sink, refrigerator, and stove.

Do note, all the camper van rentals have the kitchen out the back doors of the camper van, meaning you have to cook outside. Therefore, if you are hoping to do some street parking or stealth camping, then you might want to choose a Denver camper van rental that has a built-in kitchen indoors. Additionally, it could be a challenge if the weather turns bad and you have to cook in the rain. Although, they do rent out sunshade’s which can be helpful to protect you from the rain.

If you are looking to rent an Escape Campervan during the winter months, you can rent an electric heater. But you will need to stay at a campground or somewhere where you can properly hook up the heater. It can not be plugged into the van’s power itself. You can also add snow chains and an ice scraper.

Van-Craft:

Van-Craft has 2 locations, one in Denver, CO, and the other in Oceanside, CA. Therefore you could start at one location and drop it off at the other and make a whole road trip out of it. Van Craft Camper van rentals are more on the luxury side and professionally built. But still rentable at an affordable price.

There are 3 different types of camper van rentals they offer. One is a long-wheelbase that has a 6’3 interior height. Plus all the camper van essentials, and more.

The other option is the short wheelbase which has just a shorter interior space. A unique feature Van Craft offers is a roof-top tent attachment. So if you are traveling with the family or a few friends, you can all still travel and live out of the van and have additional sleeping space up on the roof.

If you’re ballin on a budget, Van Craft also offers a micro campervan which doesn’t have interior standing room and a rather minimal conversion. Most of the living space is designed to be outdoors. But it’s still a great way to explore the outdoors in style out in Denver, CO.

All 3 models are equipped to keep you warm during the colder winter months. Both sprinter models have an auxiliary diesel heater. And the Micro campervan has an electric blanket and sleeping bags.

Native Campervans:

Native Campervans has 3 different locations: Denver, Las Vegas and Salt Lake City. Which you can rent from one location and return to another location. They have 3 different styles of camper vans to choose from.

The Biggie is their premium camper van which has all the camper van essentials and more. The kitchen is located inside, so if the weather takes a wild turn (especially since you are traveling in Colorado), you can do everything you need indoors.

The Squad, well, is how it sounds. If you are traveling with a few friends or the whole family, the squad can sleep 4 people. But, because there are seats for all guests, the kitchen is located outside of the van.

And of course, if you don’t need a big camper van the last model is called the Smalls. It’s a little more fuel-efficient, but much less living space inside. The camper van is mainly a bed inside with the kitchen and storage sliding out from under the bed. This model is a great budget way to explore from Denver Colorado in a camper van.

If you are wanting to rent a camper van during winter, Native Campervans also offers winter packages.

Kuku Campers:

Kuku Campers is a funky camper van rental company in Denver. Their company actually has a wide range of models to choose from. With the smallest model only being able to sleep 2 and the largest model being able to sleep 5. Kuku Campers is located in Highlands Ranch, CO.

The two larger models are both Mercedes Sprinter Vans that can sleep 4-5 people and both come with a heater. So no matter the season these camper vans have you covered for whatever weather is thrown your way. Additionally, the camper van has all the vanlife essentials and more. Although the Catergory C-Lux is the only camper van rental with an indoor kitchen. The Catergory D has an outdoor kitchen that pulls out from the back.

The smaller camper van rentals are a bit cheaper in price and not quite as roomy as the other models. The Catergory AB still comes with all the camper van essentials, but the kitchen is outdoors. So again, weather could impact your ability to cook.

The Catergory M is the best bang for your buck. The bed actually folds up to a kitchen dinette. And the kitchen is actually indoors. You won’t be able to stand and cook, but if some bad weather rolls in, you will be much happier to cook inside. This model also has a heater, so you can save a few bucks during the winter season by renting this camper van.

The main drawback is the lack of “freedom” with kuku campers since you have to return the camper vans back to the same location. But honestly, there is so much beauty to see in Colorado, I’m sure you will never want to leave!

GoCamp:

GoCamp is another peer-to-peer marketplace. But their platform is a bit more picky when it comes to the camper vans they rent out to their customers, and are very hands-on with the owners. Making each rental unique and different from the next!

Each camper van rental will come with all the essentials you need, with some offering more of a glamping luxury style. While you can’t filter through the vans that have heaters, many of these professionally built vans will have built-in heaters to help you stay warm during ski season!

GoCamp has many different locations in the Rocky Mountains. Including various other locations in the Northwest, California, Southwest, Midwest, and Northeast. While they have many different locations, not all vans can be rented for a one-way road trip. You can check out their one-way rentals page to see the fees for each one-way rental. They sometimes run special deals where the fee is waived, so keep an eye out for that!

Dave & Matt Vans:

Dave & Matts Vans is a company located in Gypsum, CO. So if you are flying into the Denver airport, getting here could be a challenge (we would recommend taking the Light Rail to Union Station and then taking Bustang West Line to Eagle, and ride-share or taxi the last 6 miles). Alternatively, you might consider flying into the Eagle airport if you decide to rent a camper van from this company. One benefit to renting from Dave & Matt vans is you are already in the mountains, so no extra drive time is needed. You can start exploring the beauty of the mountains right from the pickup location!

They also specialize in camper van builds. One unique feature to renting with Dave & Matt Vans, is if you are just wanting to try out vanlife to see if it’s right for you before you buy; they will apply 50% of the rental price toward the camper van build-out cost if you move forward with their company.

One thing I like about Dave & Matt Vans is they keep the build-outs simple, affordable, but still beautifully designed. Their goal is to make vanlife accessible to everyone!

Dave & Matt Vans has 3 different camper van rental models: LV3, LV5, LV7. Obviously LV3 is their smallest and cheapest model, LV5 is their medium-sized model and LV7 is their largest and most expensive model. All are similarly designed, but the smaller the model the less space and vice versa.

Most of their rentals are four-season, so no matter the time of year, you will be living comfortably in your camper van rental from Dave & Matt vans.

Titus Adventure Co:

If you are looking for a full-on adventure with nothing getting in the way of climbing mountains and getting far off-grid, Titus Adventure Co is your Denver Camper Van Rental Company. All their vans are four-wheel drive, so you are ready to tackle any Colorado Adventure.

All the vans come with everything you could possibly need for an epic adventure including the essentials and more. Most of these vans won’t even make you feel as though you are roughing it out there. While these camper van rentals come at a slightly higher overnight price, it could be worth it to level up your camper van rental.

They do offer exclusive adventure packages that will level up your road trip. Whether you are planning a mountain bike vacation, ski vacation, or fly fishing adventure, Titus Adventure Co can have you set up to tackle any adventure without even lifting a finger. Therefore, if you want the whole package from getting off-grid and exploring Colorado to the fullest, Titus Adventure Co is the perfect camper van rental in Denver for you!

Rocky Mountain Campervans:

Photo by Eric Muhr on Unsplash

Rocky Mountain Campervans two main locations are in Denver and Las Vegas. But they also offer one-way road trips to Albuquerque, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and Seattle.

They have 8 different campervan rental types to accommodate different budgets and group sizes. More of the luxury-style vans are new van models that have plenty of living space inside. But they also offer retro VW Eurovans and Vanagons if you are looking to travel in style!

All vans come with all the campervan essentials, with a few models offering more of a luxury style experience. If you are traveling in winter, some come with a built-in furnace or have the option to add a portable heater or electric heater w/ hook-up.

Indie Campers:

Indie Campers claims to have the lowest price guarantee and the have flexible cancellation policies. They started their company in Europe but expanded to the U.S. Their U.S. locations are Las Vegas, Orlando, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and San Francisco.

Indie Campers has 2 different camper van models to choose from: a converted Mercedes Benz Metris campervan and a Class-B Winnebago Solis. All come equipped with the camper van essentials. These models come with pop-top roofs to accommodate more guests. Many of the rentals come with a heater to keep you warm during your ski vacation.

If you end up renting with their company and enjoy it, you might consider renting from them if you are ever traveling over in Europe.

Discover Campervans:

Discover Campervans is located in Aurora, CO and run by a young couple who loves to travel. They converted an old Airstream many years ago and while they loved the freedom to travel, they didn’t like how they couldn’t go everywhere with it. So they started to build out camper vans and share their passion for traveling in a tiny home on wheels with fellow people like you.

Discover Camper vans offers 6 different campervan rentals. The biggest Mercedes Sprinter and the Winnebago Solis sleep 4 people and the remaining 4 models sleep 2 people. All vans come equipped with all the camping essentials. And all come with a built-in heater, beside the Ford Transit Connect, which comes with a Mr. Buddy Heater.

One downfall is most of the van builds don’t come with a shower (besides the Winnebago Solis). So if that is important to you, you might want to consider a different Denver camper van rental company. Or pick up a solar shower bag before your trip. And there are no one-way road trips offered. But all camper vans are well designed and will set you up for an amazing Denver road trip.

Rossmonster Van Rentals:

Rossmonster Van Rentals is based out of Longmont, CO. They have two different van rentals to choose from or two other overland vehicles. Both vans models sleep and seat 4 people and all come equipped with a pop-up tent.

The vans come with all the necessary vanlife goods that you could possibly need to enjoy a vanlife road trip. The main difference between the two camper van rentals is one is modern and the other is retro. So you will be rolling in style either way!

The Retro-Mod | Nevada is an “old” Volkswagon Vanogan that is revamped with an updated Ford Engine. It has a manual transmission. They don’t come with AC or airbags, and don’t quite crush the mountain passes as fast as some of the other Denver camper van rentals.

If you are looking for a more modern rental, then you might want to consider the Modern 2.0 camper van rental. These camper van rentals are Mercedes Sprinters that are beautifully designed to get you easily from point A to point B.

Similarly to some of the above companies, they are based in Colorado. So if you are looking for a one-way road trip, you might want to choose one of the other companies that have many different drop-off locations. But if you are looking to just explore the beautiful wonders of Colorado, then Rossmonster Van Rentals can provide you with a great campervan rental near Denver.

Where to legally camp near Denver, CO

Now that you found your perfect camper van rental in Denver Colorado, it’s time to start planning where to go. Here are a few memberships and apps to help you decide where to legally camp near Denver, CO.

Harvest Hosts:

Harvest Hosts is one of the best memberships to have if you are traveling in an RV or campervan. While there is a membership fee, it pays itself off in 2-3 night stays. Plus using our tworoamingsouls Harvest Hosts referral link, you will save 15% off your membership.

There are a few requirements to be able to qualify for a membership, but most of these Denver Camper Van Rentals will fit the requirements. The requirements are the camper van needs to have a toilet, water tank, and inside cooking facilities.

Boondockers Welcome:

Jake and I utilize Boondockers Welcome most when we are traveling in or around cities. Which makes it a perfect membership if you plan to rent the camper van and stick around Denver.

While we’ve often tried to get away with stealth camping in cities, and hope we don’t wake up to the dreaded “knock” from the cops, it’s much nicer to have a legal and safe place to camp. But Boondockers Welcome is definitely not exclusive to cities, it actually has some amazing “boondocking” places to camp.

Boondockers Welcome is a program where fellow RV’ers and Vanlifers offer up their driveway or land for you to camp on. The requirements are the same as Harvest Hosts as the camper van rental will need to have a toilet, water tank and inside cooking facilities.

iOverlander:

Additionally, we use the app iOverlander to find the places we camp most other nights. These are typically wild-camping or boondocking locations. But they are often on dirt roads, so you should verify that the campervan rental company allows off-road driving.

The iOverlander app will also help you find places to fill up water, showers, laundry, propane fill-ups, dump stations, etc. The app will show you established campgrounds which usually cost a fee, informal campsites which can be both free and cost a small fee or wild camping which is usually free.

Simply click on a location where you plan to travel to and then you can find a short description, some pictures, and reviews from others. This will help you decide if the camp spot is good for you or not!

There are also many places you can legally overnight park in or near cities.
